Memory Care

Deciding how to care for a loved one with Alzheimer’s disease or another form of dementia may be one of life’s hardest decisions. The Ginny and Bob Shell Alzheimer’s Center at Parkway Village began out of a need and vision to care for adults with Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia. The Shell family recognized the need and partnered with Baptist Health and Parkway Village to create the first free-standing memory care center in Arkansas.

Our mission is to provide excellent care for our residents, recognizing their unique abilities and needs with dignity, purpose, and Christian compassion. Our staff receive special training to meet the challenges associated with caring for individuals with memory loss.

We are licensed by the Arkansas Office of Long Term Care as an Assisted Living II Facility. We’re also certified as an Alzheimer’s Special Care Unit. We provide enhanced care and a specialized program of activities for patients with a diagnosis of Alzheimer’s disease or a related disorder. The activities encourage residents to maintain as much independence as possible and retain a sense of dignity and purpose.

We also address the needs of family members, giving them comfort and peace of mind with the knowledge their loved one is surrounded by a team dedicated to providing the best care available. We support and care for them through a monthly family support group, and we are always available to answer questions, help alleviate concerns, and offer encouragement. The family becomes an important part of the care team, helping to make the best decisions for their loved one as their condition progresses.

Parkway Village Family Support Group

Caring for a family member with memory loss can be difficult. Meeting with a group of people who share your struggles can be beneficial in many ways. If you are a caregiver, we invite you to attend the Parkway Village Family Support Group (formerly the Shell Alzheimer’s Center Support Group). The group is open to anyone who is caring for someone with memory loss or has a loved one with memory loss.

Our group is led by Debbie Rawn and meets the second Tuesday of each month at 5:30 p.m. in Activity Room 1 in the Commons Building.

Please note Parkway Village is a secure and gated community so we ask that you call before your first visit for entry access. For more information, call (501) 202-1600.
