Deciding how to care for a loved one with memory loss may be one of life’s hardest decisions. The Ginny and Bob Shell Alzheimer’s Center at Parkway Village began out of a need and vision to care for adults diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia. The Shell family recognized the need and partnered with Baptist Health and Parkway Village to create the first free-standing memory care center in Arkansas.
Our mission is to provide excellent care for our residents. We recognize their unique abilities and work to meet their needs with dignity, purpose, and Christian compassion. To do that, our staff receive special training to meet the challenges associated with caring for individuals with memory loss.
We are licensed by the Arkansas Office of Long Term Care as an Assisted Living II Facility. We’re also certified as an Alzheimer’s Special Care Unit. We provide enhanced memory care and a specialized program of activities for our residents. The activities go beyond providing fun and enjoyment to helping with memory and skill retention. The activities encourage residents to maintain as much independence as possible and retain a sense of dignity and purpose.
In addition, our staff also address the needs of family members. We provide them comfort and peace of mind with the knowledge their loved one has a team dedicated to providing the best care available. We support and care for them through a monthly family support group. Plus, we are always available to answer questions, help alleviate concerns, and offer encouragement. The family becomes an important part of the care team, helping to make the best decisions for their loved one as their condition progresses.
