Wellness in All Areas of Life
Parkway Village cares about you as a whole person—body, mind, and spirit—and our community is planned to meet the wellness needs of every aspect. We offer a variety of ways to maintain a healthy lifestyle, participate in personal interests, socialize, and enjoy life overall.
Enjoy dining on three-course meals planned and prepared by our culinary school-trained chef and served by a full-service wait staff in the dining room. And yes, we always include Heart Healthy choices and a soup/salad bar. For independent living residents, lunch and dinner are served Monday through Friday. A noon-only meal is served Saturday, Sunday, and major holidays.
And family members and friends are always welcome to join you! Guest meals are available for a nominal charge.
Recreation and Classes
You have the time now for leisure activities, so take advantage of the opportunities. Go for a swim, relax in the whirlpool, lift weights, or participate in an exercise class. The Wilbourn Recreation Center features a 50-foot heated, indoor swimming pool, whirlpool, fitness room with Universal exercise equipment, and men’s and women’s locker rooms. Instructor-led water aerobics, water volleyball, and other exercise classes are also available. Enjoy a walk on the trail alongside the pond or on the quiet, shady sidewalks around the grounds.
Are you a bridge player, a movie buff, or a budding artist? Or perhaps reading and discussing a good book is your activity of choice? At Parkway Village you’ll have access to a variety of social, cultural, and spiritual activities; crafts; card games; movies; book clubs; guest speakers; concerts; and planned outings.
Plus, we encourage wellness with healthy living presentations, lunch and learns, a grief support group, and an Alzheimer’s support group.
On-site healthcare sets Parkway Village apart from most other 55+ communities. Our residents can enjoy healthcare through the Baptist Health Clinic, a primary care clinic for established patients located on our grounds. The clinic is staffed by Dr. Claudia Tolleson and accepts Medicare and most commercial insurance policies.
Dr. Tolleson also serves as medical director for the Parkway Health Center.
A wellness clinic staffed with a registered nurse is also available on-site Monday through Thursday to guide residents in different healthcare needs.
Some Parkway Village residents can earn credits, up to $90 per day, for use in the Parkway Health Center. One $90 credit per month of residency, up to a total of 60 credits, can be earned. The credits can then be used for short-term or long-term stays in the Health Center. (This benefit is available for residents who choose the full entrance fee option. See the Decision Guide for details.)
Was your last move in 1980? Don’t know how to begin downsizing? We can help! Our Director of Resident and Family Services can connect you with relocation experts, real estate firms, and other companies to help you make the transition. Then he’ll orient you to life at Parkway Village so that you can make the most of everything we offer.
We believe care for the spirit is as important as care for the body and mind regardless of religious belief or affiliation. Spiritual life opportunities at Parkway Village are planned by a spiritual life committee of residents that is led by our chaplain. A weekly ecumenical chapel service, nondenominational Bible study, and grief recovery group are some of the ways we seek to meet residents spiritual needs. Our chaplain also does home and hospital visits and is available for one-on-one counseling. Parkway Village is also an official partner with Stephen Ministry. Through the Stephen Ministry we train and organize residents for one-on-one caring ministry with other residents. We are committed to caring for people through people.
For the casual or serious reader, the library includes a selection of books, periodicals, games, and puzzles. Residents also have access to a computer with Internet, or you can bring your own device and log on to the free WIFI. A book club meets regularly to discuss a different book each month.
Convenience Store and Coffee Shop
Pick up a birthday card or restock on milk. Basic grocery, sundry items, greeting cards, and other items are available for purchase in the convenience store. And while you are out, grab a complimentary cup of coffee or tea and visit with neighbors in the Coffee Shop.
Ready for a new style? Or just need a trim? Our full-service hair salon provides shampoo, cut, style, color, and perm services at a nominal charge. For convenience, residents of assisted living, nursing care, and memory care have access to on-site hair salon services in their locations.
No longer driving? No worries. We provide on-campus transportation anytime. With advance notice we provide free transportation to medical appointments in the Little Rock area. We also offer weekly opportunities for trips to the grocery store, area banks, and area shopping centers. We can arrange transportation to the airport and some cultural events in our area for a nominal charge.
Enjoy the peace of mind that comes with 24-hour on-site security, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. The security staff also monitors the emergency call system and smoke alarms located in each home.
Utilities and Property Taxes
The monthly residence fee covers most all utilities, property taxes, and property insurance. Residents are required to carry insurance on their personal belongings in their home, and it is also beneficial to carry personal liability insurance.
